A 54 year old man presents with progressively worsening weakness and numbness of his left arm for 8 months. He has also experienced some difficulty in walking during the same time period, and states that he feels "unbalanced" and clumsy. His medical, surgical and family histories are unremarkable. He is not on any medications, including over-the-counter drugs or supplements.
